    • Loquat + Victoria Secret and a little remixing project
    • The holidays are coming fast and furious, so we’re tied to the home front for a minute, but we’re challenging ourselves with a little project. For our next couple San Francisco shows, we’re practicing our Christmas cover of The Pretenders’ “2000 Miles,” and we also started a remix project of sorts. It’s weird how we finish an album, and then somehow certain songs get excluded from our live sets. So we’re trying to go back and bring some songs out of the vault. This time, we decided to take “Need Air,” from our album It’s Yours to Keep, and rework it for our live show. It’s nice to revisit a song, do something new with it and rekindle the love. I forgot how much I liked playing that song.

So our album, Secrets of the Sea, is featured on Victoria Secret’s Pink Website along with seven other bands, including Bloc Party, Ting Tings and Kaiser Chiefs. Click on the arrow at the bottom right of the page: http://vspink.com/love_rock.jsp

Happy almost Turkey (or Tofurkey) day.

    • Belated hometown CD release party this Saturday!
    • Heeeey! We’re back from our Midwest/East Coast tour and finally got some sleep. Then Halloween and the election happened, and we stayed out all night, so the sleep deficit is creeping back up. No matter. This Saturday is our belated hometown release party for Secrets of the Sea at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco.

Speaking of the album, here’s one of our favorite reviews of it in everyone’s favorite hilarious newspaper, The Onion: http://www.avclub.com/content/music/loquat

It’s the same national paper that recently ran the awesome headline, “Dollar Bill On Floor Sends Wall Street Into Frenzy.” If you haven’t picked up a copy of Secrets of the Sea, a few places to get it include Virgin, Rasputin, Amoeba, iTunes, Amazon and right here on our site (see “Buy Stuff”). If you’re in the Bay Area, hope to see you this Saturday. If not, we’re plotting our next jaunts out of the Bay Area. And stay tuned for a really cool remix of our song “Sit Sideways” by Zion I’s Amplive, coming out on Om records in the next month.

    • Secrets of the Sea is almost here! Live 105 tonight!
    • Welcome to our brand-new Website! We’ll miss the Bower Bird flying around, but hopefully you’ll find everything you need here, among the whales, birds and bottles. On Tuesday, Secrets of the Sea will be available on Talking House Records, distributed through Fontana/Universal in the U.S. and Canada. Thanks to all the college, Internet and extra-terrestrial radio music directors who helped us make the Top 20 CMJ radio adds for last week. Speaking of radio, we’re performing a stripped-down version of “Harder Hit” on San Francisco’s Live 105 (105.3 FM) tonight. You can stream the show here: http://www.live105.com/. Just click on the “Listen Live” button. And last but not least, we leave for our little Midwest/East Coast tour this week! Check out the dates, as well as our new video and more on this site! xoxo, Loquat

    • “Harder Hit” debuted on Imeem.com today!
    • Along with launching a redesign of its site, Imeem.com also debuted our new video for “Harder Hit” today. The video is loosely based on the late ’50s French film Le Ballon Rouge. Watch us as we play tug-o-war with and run around with the shape-shifting red balloon. And notice the dolphins, which were nice enough to show up to the video shoot. The awesome Wired magazine even wrote about it in their blog: http://blog.wired.com/music/2008/10/video-loquat-pl.html. Love, Loquat

    • Thanks to everyone who came to our show last Friday in San Francisco and hung out with us until 1 a.m. in the most freakishly bizarre heat. We’ve never played a show when it was that hot, not even in Phoenix.

Now for something a bit breezier: We’re playing at this year’s Treasure Island Music Festival on Saturday, September 20! Tickets are now on sale. Buy them for both days of the festival or just Saturday. We’re playing with TV on the Radio, Goldfrapp, Justice, Hot Chip, CSS, Amon Tobin, Nortec Collective and other cool bands. Hope to see you there! More details to come. And stay tuned for our new album, Secrets of the Sea, coming out Oct. 14.

    • Things are percolating in Loquat land. Our album, Secrets of the Sea, will finally come out October 14, which seems like forever from now, but bass player Anthony and vocalist/guitarist Kylee got married that day two years ago, so it’ll be a dual celebration, and there will likely be hangovers the next day. Time flies, and we need to release it right, which is why our label Talking House is makin’ plans. Some things of interest coming up include a new video a month before the release, new Website (although we’ll miss the flying Bower bird here) and touring. Stay tuned at our MySpace page to find out about some Loquat “missions” coming up en route to Oct. 14.

And if you’re in San Francisco, come hang out with us at Cafe du Nord on June 20.

      Love, Loquat

    • Yaaay, 4/20! Heh heh.... So we have great news to tell you, but it has to wait another day or two. It’s all about the new album, when it’s coming, etc. We’re very excited. In the meantime, come see us in San Francisco at Cafe du Nord on June 20 with LoveLikeFire and the Union Trade. And thanks to everyone who has asked us to play in their city. We hope to make it to the Midwest and East Coast soon...and wherever else touring may take us.
